The Astros scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to overtake the Mariners at Clifford last night by the score of 6-3.
Alan Donaruma stroked a 2 out, 2-run single to break the ice in the second and the M's added another on an RBI double by Chris Corde in the third.
Astros starter Jamie Manciocchi left the game in the fifth with a blister the size of Derek Lowe on his pitching hand. Ron Viola came on in relief and pitched 2.1 hitless innings to close it out and get the win.
Mariners starter Kevin Ludwig had the Astros off-balance until the 5th, but took the loss.
Tony Ricupero and Rich Newman each had two hits and a run and Mike Vernon drove in two. Joe Viola had perhaps the biggest hit of the night. After Cory Edgar scored Newman with a single, Joe hit a hard ground ball up the middle to score Sean Dowling. Both Edgar and Viola also scored on the play due to a throwing error and the 'stros had the lead for good.
