White Sox 0 3 0 1 2 0 x 6 8 1

The Sox evened their record at 1-1 behind the solid pitching of Brian Houlding and some timely hitting. Houlding (1-0) pitched 5 innings of shutout ball to notch his first win of the season. Al Wiesner closed out the final 2 innings to preserve the shutout.

Offensively, the Sox were led by Joe Fitzgerald who tripled and doubled to go 2 for 2, both balls into the rightfield trees at Cleveland Circle. Fitzgerald also scored the first run, which would prove to be all the Sox would need. Defensively, behind the plate, Dan Field threw out both runners who attemped to steal off him. And Jason Hoye recorded his first outfield assist of the season, doubling off Corey Son at secondbase after a flyout to left.

For the Royals, Ariel Martinez pitched the complete game for the loss.

Joe Fitzgerald receives high fives after scoring first Sox run.
