With pointed control of the 12 to 6 breaking ball Dave Giarrusso was masterful on the bump for the Sox, allowing no earned runs, no walks, 6 hits, and fanning 7 over 5 innings. The Sox lineup proved relentless, banging out 12 hits. John Heim capped the night with a perfect 7th inning, striking out the side.
