Andy Burkett picked up the Pirates with a huge pitching performance to salvage a split of the doubleheader. He went the distance for a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits, and only one walk while striking out five. He was aided by double play turned in the 6th by Dillon Search Wells who gunned out the go-ahead run at the plate. The Dill-Dog got beaned in the nuts in the 6th and scored the winning run while igniting a 7 run rally. Burkett then shut the door 1-2-3 in the seventh.
