BILLERICA -- In the 4th meeting between two of the CABL's most storied franchises, the Mariners got the bats started early against Warriors' ace Sean Perkins. After plating 2 in the 1st, a promising start to the 2nd inning was squandered when Jon Cushman, in a boneheaded attempt to curry favor with his new teammates, got thrown out trying to take two bases on a passed ball. This costly mistake may have earned him a seat on the bench to quietly do the book for the remainder of the season. DJ Goldberg, who's known as an all around good kid, settled in tossing 5 innings without allowing an earned run with help from teammates Jesse Stanley who made a miraculous web-gem to end a Warriors threat in the 4th & Bobby Zahner, who inherited two runners with no one out & worked his way out of the jam after Goldberg was chased from the game in the 6th.
