Another battle between these teams saw Cannon come out on top. Cannon starts early on a 2 run triple by Colon who is driven in by McCann in the first. They add another in the 2nd when Flannery drives in Panozzi who led off with a triple. GM answers right back with 3 runs on hits by Canales, Tenaglia, and a big triple by Carrera. A great relay from Newton to Flannery cuts down the tying run in Tenaglia to preserve the lead. Superko had settled down by this point and kept Cannon bats quiet long enough for Carrera to come up again in the 6th and hit a deep gap HR to tie the game.
