On about as humid, hot and muggy night as it can possibly get in Boston, the Waltham Red Sox got out to an early lead putting up 5 in the first. If you thought the outfield grass at Nipper coudn't get any higher than it was earlier in the year and that Waltham wouldn't even their record at .500, you would be wrong on both accounts. Brian Spadafino, Jon Churchill and Dana Levensaler all had 2 hits each to lead the offense. Mark Fitzpatrick, Jay Wisner and Tom Dowey all got their work on the mound for the sox with Wisner in particular looking very sharp with 4 K's in 2 innings.
