The Cambridge Spinners began their quest for a third league championship, beating the Waltham Athletics 4-1 in a rematch of last season's league finals. Luc Kocher went six innings, giving up one run on five hits while striking out six. Bryan Goossens came on in the seventh for the save. Isaac Valvidiezo scored in the first on a throwing error and later drove in two runs on a double in the second inning. Greg Megedichian got a three-run second inning started by reaching base on a error and the rally was kept alive with hits from Mike Tufo and Bob Maccioli, who missed most of last season with a hip injury. Jordan Krall scored the lone run for the A's, scoring on a Jason Tessari single in the fourth. The A's loaded the bases in the fourth and sixth, but were unable to score.
