Dave Volante had a 2 hitter through six and almost saw it go to waste as Cannon decided in the seventh to let Palmer make it close. Cannon gets on the board first when Flannery reaches on an error to start the game and later scores on a WP. Newton drives in the second run with a double in the 3rd.
