Cannon knocks the first place team down a peg with a solid pitching performance from Grady Campion who carried a no hitter into the 7th. A scorching rbi single by Newton and a big 2 run double by Allen in the first was all the run support Campion needed. Palmer attempts to threaten in the 6th with the bases loaded but can't push across a run and leaves a doughnut on the board. Lipsett breaks up the no hitter in the 7th with a leadoff single and Phelan follows up with the last hit of the night for Palmer. A 2 out Cannon error ends the shutout, plating Lipsett. Nicholson almost finds the hole by short but Newton dives and smothers the ball and alertly fires to second from his side. Songin overslides the bag and is tagged out to end the game.
