The Rangers staged a late inning comeback and moved into a 1st place tie with the Mariners atop the Atlantic Conference. Neil Doherty went the distance on the hill, and Chris Caprio provided the spark.

After the teams traded early inning runs, the Mariners broke ahead in the 4th when Corey Aldoupolis singled home Jason LaPointe. Mariner starter Nick Baseel kept the Ranger bats in check until the Rangers put up a crooked 4 in the top of the 6th. The inning was punctuated with an RBI double from Chris Caprio who aggressively stole 3rd and then scored with more smart baserunning.

Caprio was everywhere. After his 6th inning double, he made the last 5 defensive plays of the game and overall was involved in one-third of his defense's outs.

Less involved was an anonymous Ranger baserunner who was called out for abandoning 1st base after reaching safely. Ranger Manager Besegai argued the play but was unsure what he was arguing.

Doherty gets W; Caprio is a Renaissance man
