In a rematch of last season's first round playoffs, The Rangers defeated the White Sox behind nice pitching performances by Shane Steffens (4-0) and Neil Doherty, and some timely hitting. The White Sox broke out to a 1-0 lead on a solo shot by Jonathan Naumowicz in the 2nd inning. In the bottom half of the 2nd, Brian Delaney answered the call with a 2-run homerun of his own. The White Sox would threaten in the top of the 5th inning, but the rally was cut short when leftfielder Danny Richter threw out a runner at third. Leading 2-1, the Rangers added another run in the bottom half. Andy Katz walked to lead off the inning, stole 2nd, and scored on an Al Becker single. Shane Steffens recorded his league leading 4th win of the season and Neil Doherty picked up the 3-inning save.
