Steve Langone drew a 3-2 walk and Lorenzo Papa singled. Veteran Andy Hartung then greeted reliever Mike DiCato with a long triple to left giving the Merchants a 2-1 lead. Dale Crispin drove home Hartung with a single to account for the 3-1 final. Kevin Flight (1-0) was outstanding for Wakefield, allowing three hits and an unearned run, while striking out four.
