Wakefield took advantage of Chiefs wildness and infield error at first base, to score three times in the fifth inning, without a hit. Freni issued one out walks to Andy Hartung and Jon Davison, before Bob Losanno reached on and error by at first. Freni struck out Brooks Townsend for the second out, before a wild pitch allowed Hartung to score the tying run.
