The A's rode the arm of Jason Kurtz to the 4-1 victory on Friday night over the Surgeons. Kurtz tallied 11 K's on the night, while surrendering only 1 run. The A's put up 3 runs in the first, thanks to Nick Barton's 2 RBI double, and great baserunning on a wild pitch to score the third run. The A's pushed across another run in the 4th, when Bo McIntyre hit a single, and PR Paul Mahoney stole second base and scored on an error. The Surgeons threatened in the 7th; however Kurtz induced a DP ground out, and got a strikeout to end the game. Manero pitched well in the loss, and also tallied 2 hits for the Surgeons.
