In their first game at the new North Andover High School field, the Thunder notch their first win of 2006 behind the strong pitching of Todd "Chub" Thompson. Todd threw 7 shutout innings, scattering 5 hits, working the corners, walking none. Mike Johnson finished up, with the Knights threatening in the 9th, scoring 2 on hits by Darren Flutie, Ghilani and Ryan, but Johnson settled down to strike out the last 2 batters and close the game. The Thunder defense took it up a notch, with a number of fine plays by Tarez McNeil at short, Brian Chen in center and rookie Keith Karpowich in right to steal away potential Knight hits. Mike Valentino and Paul Laurin let the Thunder offensive punch with 2 hits apiece, Laurin added a sac fly (2 RBIs total for him), and Mike Johnson and Ted Maravelias drove in the other Thunder runs.
