White Sox 12, Orioles 1
The White Sox jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead at Chelsea High. In the first inning, the first 4 batters connected for hits, including singles by Al Wiesner and Will Bissonnette, and doubles by Jason Hoye and Ryan Gray. They would tack on a few more runs in the 4th inning, highlighted by a Brett Rudy double that hit off the top of the left field wall. And in the 5th inning, the Sox would score 4 more runs highlighted by an Earl Murphy bomb double that bounced into the dugout in the softball field beyond centerfield.
Pitching, the White Sox combined to toss a 2-hitter with 16 K's and only 1 walk. Al Wiesner (1-0) was masterful through the first 4 innings, K'ing 8. Dave Martin was masterful through the next 2 innings, K'ing 5 and not allowing a baserunner. Nate Pane struck out the final 3 batters to close out the game. The O's lone run was plated in the 7th inning after a Jordan Krall single scoring Mike Davis who reached on error. |
