The Astros scored 4 in the top of the 7th to beat the Senators, 10-7 at Ryan field. It was a slugfest. There were 25 hits combined, 8 for extra bases.
Sean Kennedy (5-1) struggled early, but did not allow a run after the fourth and earned a CG victory. Ryan Dooley started for the Sens and got a ND.
Jon Mayes drove in Joe Viola with a hard single that proved to be the GW RBI. Tyler Walsh (3-5,R, 2RBI), Tony Ricupero (2-5,3R), Rich Newman (2-4,2B,3B,2RBI), Mike Vernon (2-3,RBI) and Ron Viola (2-4,R) all had multiple hit games for the 'stros and Jesse Peterson added a 2-run 3B.
Senators Pete Grasso (2B,2R,RBI), Jason Ackerson (2B,R,2RBI) and Joe Lombardi (RBI) each had two hits to lead their attack. Dennis Ingram added a 3B and scored on John Crosby's 2 bagger.
The win earned the Astros sole possession of 1st place at 14-4, 1 game ahead of the Reds. The Sens fell to 8-7, but remain in the playoff hunt. |
