The Astros recorded their first win of the season today by beating the Indians 6-3 at East Boston Stadium. Mike Vernon threw a complete game two hitter to earn the win. He struck out seven (including the last two batters of the game) and walked only two. Only one of the Indians three runs was earned. Tony Ricupero broke the game open in the fourth with a bases loaded single that drove in Cory Edgar and Kevin Gorman. Coop also walked and scored the Astros first run of the morning. Chris Ioakimidis and Tyler Walsh each drove in a run. For the Indians, Nick Bondola went 1-3 with an RBI and Mike Everett was 1-3 with a run scored.
