The Quincy Grays earned their first victory of the season with a solid team effort.
Trailing 3-1 going into the bottom of the 7th, the Grays scored 3 runs to win. Dave Webster was HBP to lead off the inning. Frank Nellenback and Chris Barrientos then both singled to load the bases. Gerard Touchette followed with a clutch 2 RBI single to tie the score, putting Barrientos on 3rd. Still with no outs in the inning and Steve Maycock at the plate, Barrientos was awarded home on a balk to seal the victory.
Brian Cosentino pitched a complete game, scattering 6 hits, and striking out 6 to earn the victory.
For the Padres, Andrew Rutkiewicz pitched 6 strong innings, giving up only 2 hits and striking out 6. Jon Houle had two hits and also scored a run. |
