On a blistering and sunny afternoon in Brockton, the A's made a bid to give the Braves their first loss of the season. That task proved to be not so easy, as the Braves put up two runs in the top of the first on a leadoff double by Chris St. Amand and a pair of miscues by the A's. The A's would tie the game in the second when both Pete Zelonis and Chris Seng scored after reaching on singles. Both pitchers, Steve Hare for the Braves and Rich Petrillo for the A's, would go the distance, pitching into the seventh with the game tied at seven. The Braves, however, would plate four in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach.
