In an all-around well played game with outstanding pitching from both teams, the Orioles and Red Sox took a 1-1 tie into the 10th inning at Albermarle Field. Jim Silverman delivered the key hit for the Orioles with a 2 run double in the top of the 10th, which turned out to be the game winner after John Favaloro had enough gas in the tank to shut down the Red Sox in the home half to preserve the win. Favaloro hurled all 10 innings, scattering 4 hits for his 4th complete game victory of the season. Dave Gagin had 2 hits and an RBI for the Orioles. Ricardo Figueroa doubled in the Red Sox lone run, while the Sox pitching staff combined for 12 K's on the day.
