The White Sox offense came to life and pounded out the big hits when they counted to defeat the Mariners. In the first inning, a walk, reach on error, and a HBP set up a 3-RBI double for Anthony Tomaro. In the second inning, a Steve Baldassari single, walk and a HBP set up a 3-RBI double for Omar Ortiz. John Byrne added an RBI double to score Ortiz. The Mariners battled back, scoring 4 in late innings. Jeff Rausch led the M's offense with a 3 for 3 day and added a HBP for good measure. Dave Salafia also added a couple of singles. Chris Falato improved to 2-0, as newcomner Andrew Hubbard got the save, tossing 2+ innings of relief. Pat Walters tossed the complete game in defeat for the M's.
