Giants got behind early to the tune of 5 runs after 2 innings but came back to score 4 in the 4th and 2 in the 5th to take the 6-5 lead. The Gators then tied it 6-6 in their half of the 5th. The Giants scored two in the top of 7th off a huge 2-out, 2-run double by Gary Stevens to go up 8-6. The Gators made it interesting in the bottom of the 7th but lefty, John Surette (S, 2) closed the door to preserve the win for the Giants and the split on the doubleheader.
