Sun, 6 August, 10:00AM, at Brighton - McKinney (Game 1 of DH)
Tigers 9, Netherfield Reds 4
Tigers win the first one under the sun on a clutch 2-RBI single in the 5th by Nate Pane. The Reds had tied the game with 4 of their own in the top of the 5th after the Tigers had gone ahead early on 4 straight hits in the 2nd, including a long 3B by Silk, and a sharp double down the line by Wilson. Houlding started the 5th with a double to left, later scoring the game winning run on Pane's line drive.
Matt Giblin continued his torrid pace going 2-2 (R,RBI,SB), while Pat Long added another 2-hit day (2-3, R, RBI). Houlding threw 5 decent innings to get the win, and Wlodarczyk earned his first save with a dominant 2 innings to end the game.
The Reds certainly made it interesting, but couldn't complete the comeback. Magee and John, Pete John, led the attack for the Reds, each with 2 hit days. Garabedian pitched well in defeat but could not defend against the Tiger Uppercut... |
