Scrapers did exactly as the name suggests, edging out a victory with solid defense and clutch pitching. Stuy-Town battled back late with a 3-run 7th, but it wasn't enough. Turtle pitching struck out 14 Skyscrapers in a losing effort.
For the Scrapers, Gary Gaskin got the win on the mound, going 7 strong innings. Matt Dolen struck out 2 in the final 2 innings for the save. Paul Cuevas had a key 2-run single to continue a rally ignited by a Turtle misplay on a sac bunt with noone out in the 5th.
Cuevas, Gaskin, and Mike Veetal each had 2 hits on the day, with Veetal scoring 2 runs. SS Jose Martinez had some gems on defense, including a flyball putout deflected off a diving Veetal's glove to leadoff the game. Pete Seidman played flawlessly behind the plate.
