The Marlins beat the Mariners 10-5 at venerable Clifford Field. The Marlins opportunistic offense was the story tonight, pushing across two runs in five different innings. Leading the way were 1-3 hitters Andy Katz, Gregg Howard, and Mike Mori who combined to bang out five hits, score five runs and steal three bases. Kevin Brennan cruised to his third victory of the season, striking out seven and at one point retiring seven straight Mariners. Behind him the Fish turned in another excellent defensive performance, committing only one error. Mariners southpaw Kevin Ludwig struck out eight in defeat. Playing in his 100th game as a Marlin, Karl Cyr cranked out the first home run of his life in the fifth to cap a solid 2-4 performance at the plate.
