Reds got out to an early 3 run lead in the 3rd thanks to a 2-rbi triple from Melia. Cutters immediately answered in the bottom of the 3rd with a 5-run inning highlighted by a Tony Ramos 3-rbi double. Reds tied the game at 5 in the top of the 4th with the 7-8-9 hitters reaching base followed by a sac fly from Garabedian and an rbi single from Melia. The game remained tied until the 10th when Knell led off with a double followed by a Ruggieri single. The go ahead run was driven in on a single from Bloomer. Thanks to two errors in the bottom of the 10th, the Cutters threatened to tie the game on a double from Moloney, the tying run was cut down at the plate on a throw from Ruggieri in LF to seal the win and the Bay State division title for the Reds. Matthews showed off his rubber arm throwing all 10 innings for the Cutters while the Reds used an effective combo of Gara, Allen and Callaghan who picked up his league leading 8th win.
