The Senators played flawless defense in 200 degree heat and knock off the first place Rangers. Starter Matt Mothander faltered in the first but settled down and held the Rangers to 3 hits over 7 innings. Reliever Jonathan Rheault was solid in the final 2 frames while picking up his first win. Offensively, the Senators would need last inning heroics to win as Rangers pitchers were greedy through 8. In the top of the 9th, Jerry Adler lead off with a walk followed by a hard single by Jon Rheault. Jason Ackerson would load the bases with a bunt single and Matt Orszulak would tie it up with a walk. Nate Laliberte sealed the deal with a single to left plating 2. The Senators would like to thank the Rangers for making the trek to CT and for a fun weekend overall.
