The Tigers offense took care of business on another hot day. Merv got things going quickly with a HR to left in the 1st, as he tried for the reverse cycle missing by a single. In the 2nd, Field drove in 2 with a sharp single, followed by an RBI single from Gib for the game winner before JP added another HR as the Tigers put 8 on the board in the frame to put the game away. Griff pitched 4 strong innings for the win in anticipation of going Sunday on 18 hrs rest. Sway and Jip closed things out nicely, though neither one would be mistaken for a pitcher. Every Tigers starter got a hit, and only Silk avoided touching home plate. Mike Ciano had a 3 hit day and Nowlin drove one to the triangle to score Bowles in the 7th for the Reds, but that was about as much as they could muster on this day.
