With 2 outs and 1 on in the top of the 7th, trailing the Cutters 6-1, it looked like time was about to run out on this Cinderella. But then the unthinkable happened. With their backs against the wall, the M's strung together 7 straight hits to wrestle the lead away from the Cutters, 7-6. All that remained was to stop the potent Cutters offense in the bottom half. EJ Freni entered the 7th looking for his second consecutive postseason complete game. The first hitter, Ned Coffee, reached by error, advancing to second on the overthrow. Freni then got the next two hitters out, leaving it up to Greg Crossman. Crossman ripped a laser that was snagged by M's first baseman Justin Brinkmeyer for the game's final out. The game was a fitting end to a hard fought series. The Cutters played hard all series, competing with tremendous class. As for the Mariners, this Cinderella is planning to stay and dance a little longer.
