ATHLETICS CLINCH SPOT IN QUATERFINALS
Nick Tapper hit a 3 run homer in the 5th inning to put the Athletics up 6-5 as the Athletics tallied their 12th victory of the season over division rival the Boston Bison.
The Bison got on the board early, taking a 5-0 lead after 2 innings thanks to timely hitting early in the game from the entire lineup. The Athletics would chip away with 2 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th. In the 6th, a Christian HBP and Barton single would set the stage for Tapper's heroics to give the Athletics the lead (3-4, 3 RBI), and the Athletics would score 2 more in the inning for good measure.
Breidenstine came in relief for the Athletics, pitching 3.2 innings with 7 Ks to get the win. The Bison would threaten by scoring a run and loading the bases in the 7th, but Pirman relieved Breidenstine and recorded the final out via strikeout. |
