The Worcester Giants even the Bay State semifinal series at one game a piece. Dan Shanahan tossed a 1-hit gem to give the Giants the victory. The Offense was again led by Dan Sullivan who had 3 hits and 3 RBI's. Also contributing were Marc Calamito and Steve Corda, each 2-3 on the day. The Giants also took advantage of several Cardinal defensive miscues.
Dan Shanahan was aided by great defensive performances by Steve Corda, Brandon Moore, and Joe Cavalieri. The series finale is Tuesday night at Billings field.

Shanahan does it again on the hill while Sullivan and Calamito swing the hot bats

The combination of Althletic pitching giving up walks and Giant's hits led to a long night at Billings. Jeff Decoteau showed why he is one of the best in the league going the distance. Decoteau line was 7IP, 3H, 2BB, 18K. Offence was led by Dan Sullivan who was 2-3 with 5RBI, while Mike Byrne was 2-3 with 3RBI and Jeff Decoteau in helping himself was 2-3 with 1RBI.

Jeff Decoteau does it on the hill and at the plate, Sullivan and Byrne alos had big nights witht he bat.

Giants win on the back of a strong effort by Dan Shanahan. Shanahan went the distance allowing only one hit in the win. The offence was led by Mike Byrne who was 2-4, 2B, 2RBI. Dan Shanahan also chipped in with a hit and a run scored to help himself. Steve Corda while having only one hit managed to get on base 4 times and score twice.

Shanahan puts in another strong effort, Byrne led the way with the stick and Corda showed how to get on base.

Cole Barton (7IP, 2H, 1ER, 5K)took a no-hitter into the 7th inning against the Giants on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at East Boston Stadium. Calamito and Hague hit back-to-back singles for the Giants to spoil Barton's no-hit bid in the top of the 7th. Steve Corda took the loss for the Giants.

Jay Thomas (3-3, 3RBI, 1SB), Shaun Stack (2-3 1R, 1SB), and Dan Gomes (1-3, 2R, 2SB) led the Oriole offense, while Larry Charbonneau and Thomas led the way on defense.

Barton flirts with no-no. Thomas and Stack come through at the plate.

Mike McCarthy pitched a complete game three-hit shutout to improve to 4-0 on the year. McCarthy struck out seven and walked just one. Rick Corson scored the game's only run in the first inning. Corson walked, took third on two passed balls, and scored on a Mike Close ground-out to second. Decoteau allowed only four hits while striking out eight and walking two in the loss.

In what was a great pitchers duel at Noyes Field in East Boston, Jeff Decoteau came out on top. DECOTEAU FIRED A NO HITTER!!! The Giants scored once in each of the first and second innings and that is all Decoteau needed. Deco's line was 7 IP, 0 Hits, 0 Runs, 11 K's, and 3 BB. Matt Marenghi put in a strong effort for the Royals also. His line was 7 IP, 3 Hits, 2 Runs, 8 K's, and 3 BB.

"Thunder" Dan Shanahan put in another strong effort to get the complete game victory for the Giants. The Giants offence was led by Marc Calamito who was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and Jeff Dectoeau who was 2 for 3 with one RBI. For the Braves Chris O'Sullivan went the distance in taking the loss. The Braves bats were led by Mike Knell who was 2 for 3 on the day.

Giants win in extra innings!! Mike Byrne drove in the winning run in the top of the 8th and Steve Corda shut down the Mets in the bottom to solidify the victory and get the win. Jeff Decoteau started for the Giants while Kit Kadlec took the loss after coming in relief for starter Bill Beauchesne. The Giants offense was led by Byrne with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Dan Dileo, Joe Albano and Jeff Decoteau also had 2 hits a piece while Steve Corda scored twice. The Mets offence was led by Kit Kadlec who had 3 hits and a walk on the day.

In a crisply played game of 1 hour and 25 minutes at Tivnan Field in Worcester, the Giants pulled out of a 5 game skid to defeat the White Sox by a score of 3-0.

Dan Shanahan was outstanding on the hill for the Giants, shutting out the White Sox for the first time during the regular season in their 10 year history. Shanahan allowed no runs, only 3 hits and no walks with 10 K's in this complete game shutout.

All the game's scoring for the Giants occurred in the bottom of the 3rd inning. After a leadoff walk to Steve Coyle, Joe Albano and Steve Corda hit consecutive RBI-doubles. After Corda advanced to third on a wild pitch, he scored on a Jason Grenier sacrifice fly.

For the White Sox, Brian Houlding pitched solid as well, allowing only 4 hits and 2 walks with 7 K's in his complete game, but took the tough loss.

Josh Conklin went the distance to earn his second win in a row. He received tremendous help from the bat of John Verdeaux. Verdeaux hit two triples driving in five runs and scoring once. Matt Bloomer and Jason Gesing both had multiple hit games.
For the Giants Joe Albano hit a double and a single. There were also defensive gems made by Matt Bloomer and Tom Hague.

Conklin records his second in a row. Verdeaux drives in five runs with two triples.

The Giants hosted the D'Backs at the beautiful Tivnan Field in Worcester on Sunday. If you made the drive you were lucky enough to see a great game at a great field. Hats off to Steve Coyle and the Giants for putting this great day together.
The first runs of the game were scored by the D'Backs in the top of the 4th after putting together 3 straight hits by Jeremy Broadwell, Brian Kilpatrick and Nick Reiser (RBI). Leigh Zancewicz capped the inning off by driving in Kilpatrick. The Giants came back in the bottom of the 5th by scoring a run after a passed ball by Jeff Cain. They struck again in the 6th to tie the game after scoring on a wild pitch. In the eighth, Tommy Bligh got to second after walking on a errant throw by the 1st baseman. Cain and Broadwell then hit back to back doubles to score 2 runs.
Greg O'Keeffe pitched 5 great innings and Aaron Bend got the win after coming on in the 6th. Jeff Decoteau got the tough loss

The Mariners shook off last week's disappointing last-inning loss with a dramatic come-from-behind win of their own. Facing a 5-0 deficit entering the last of the 7th, the Mariners finally managed to get to the Giants' Jeff Decoteau, rallying for 6 runs on 6 hits.

The Mariners first got on the board with one out in the inning, when Jon Mead drew a bases loaded walk to force in EJ Freni, who had led off the inning with an infield single. Brian Wildeman, Mark Balfe, Alan Donaruma, and Freni soon followed with two-out RBI singles to complete the M's comeback victory over the first place Giants.

Justin Wetherby pitched well enough and long enough to get the complete game victory, allowing 7 hits and 5 runs, while walking 3 and striking out 1. For the Giants, Dan Dileo reached base safely all three of his plate appearances, recording 2 walks and a double. Four other Giants also recorded one hit each.

The Indians and Giants battled at the Jeff Friday night, with the Tribe coming out on top 1-0.

Daryl Pina (7IP,2H,4K,0ER) and Dan Shanahan (7IP,5H,6K,0ER) were the stars of the night, each going the distance and demonstrating why they're playing in Lowell on Saturday.

Brook Smith scored the lone Indians run in the top of the 7th. Smith singled, then advanced all the way home off of a failed pickoff attempt and a passed ball at third. Mark Bowles led the Tribe with two hits. Mike Byrne and Jason Grenier had the lone hits for the Giants.

All-star pitching one day early. Smith scored the winning run in the 7th.

The Giants won their 5th straight game in a convincing 12-3 win over the Dodgers at Cleveland Circle. "Thunder" Dan Shanahan threw a complete game for his 4th win of the year, improving his record to 4-0. The Giants offense was led by Steve Coyle and Dan Sullivan. Dan Sullivan continued to swing the hot bat with 3 hits and Steve Coyle drove in 3 runs on 2 hits. The Giants were aided by several Dodger miscues in the field and took advantage early, exploding for 7 runs in the 3rd inning. The Giants improved to 10-2 on the year, while the Dodgers fell to .500 at 4-4.

The Giants improved to 8-2 on the year with a walk-off single in the 7th inning by Dan Sullivan.
This game was a see-saw battle with several lead changes. Giants starter Tim McDonald lasted only two innings, after surrendering 3 runs on 4 hits and 4 base on balls. Steve Corda took to the mound in the 4th and carried the Giants the rest of the way.
Offensively, the Giants were led by Dan Sullivan, who had 2 hits, and Dan Dileo, Joe Albano, and Jeff Decoteau, who all had a pair of hits.
The potent Marlins offense was spear-headed by Andy Katz, who was on base 4 times with 2 hits and 2 walks, and Etherington, who had 2 doubles.
This was an exciting game that came down to the wire.

The Giants improved to 7-2 on the year after a victory in a tight game with O's. Giant's starter Jason Grenier picked up his first victory on the year, surrendering 2 runs on 5 hits, over 5 innings. Jeff Decoteau notched his first save on the year.
The offense for the Giants was led by Steve Coyle, who drove in 2 runs and scored 2 runs, and Jeff Decoteau, who delivered a RBI double in the 5th inning.
The Orioles' offense was carried by 3rd baseman Al Cacciatore who had an RBI single and a triple. O's starter Cole Barton battled the league's number one offense through six, but picked up the loss, and fell to 1-1 on the year.

Coyle and Grenier led the Giants, and Cacciatore provided the spark for the Orioles

Jeff Decoteau threw a complete game, allowing 2 R, 0 ER, 5 H, 8 K, and 2 BB. He improved to 3-0 for the Giants with the victory.

The offense was provided early for the Giants as the first five batters reached safely, including back-to-back RBI doubles by Steve Corda and Mike Byrne. Dan Dileo also added two hits for the Giants, who improved to 5-2 with the win.

The Indians got their runs in third with three hits loading the bases, followed by a costly Giants error, which plated two runs for the Indians. Brian Greene had two hits for the Indians, who fell to 3-3 on the year.

Decoteau delivered on the mound and Corda at the plate for the Giants. Brian Greene was the bright spot for the Indians.

Reds win via forfeit due to a Giant ejection causing their roster to dip below the required 9.

Steve Corda (Giants) & Glenn Perham (Reds) battled it out. The Giants took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st inning where it stayed until the 7th inning. Then, Joe Dunne pinch hit and led off with a walk. He then stole second and moved to third on a two-out Chris Chase infield hit. Dunne then scored on a double-steal which was mishandled at the plate.

In the bottom of the 7th, with the score 1-1, a Giants player was ejected which left them with only eight eligible players, resulting in a forfeit.

In the "exhibition" which followed, Corda stayed hot on the mound putting the Reds out in order (18 K's total, 15 K's legit). Corda then knocked in the ultimate decider with a double to left, making the "exhibition" final score 2-1 Giants. But instead, Glenn Perham got the "real" win for the Reds, allowing 1 hit in 7 innings with 10 K's.

The offense came early for the Giants, as they touched up Mets' starter Tim Fortune for 5 runs in the first inning. Jason Grenier delivered the big blow with a bases loaded single, followed by RBI's by Joe Cavalieri, Mike Byrne, and Steve Coyle. Grenier delivered the 6th and final run in the 2nd with a triple.

The Mets two hits came on singles by Chris Sansone and Brian Rochette. The Giants received sparkling defensive performances by second baseman Joe Albano and shortstop Steve Corda. The Giants improved to 2-0, while the Mets fall to 3-2.

The Giants improved to 3-0 on the season with a 7-0 victory over the Cubs. Dan Shanahan made his first start of 2003 and delivered a 5 inning, 2 hit, 6 K, no run performance.

The Cubs hung tight with the Giants until the pivotal 5th inning, when Jeff Decoteau cleared the bases with double. This opened up the lead, which given to the Giants in the 1st with an unearned run and a 4th inning RBI by Tom Hague. Steve Corda slammed the door in the 6th and 7th with an outstanding relief appearance.

The Cubs only threatened once, in the 4th , with 2 runners on, Dan Shanahan delivered 2 key strikeouts.

The Giants went to 2-0 with a hard fought victory over the Rockies yesterday. Jeff Decoteau improved to 2-0 with a 4-hit, 8 strikeout performance over 5 innings. He was relieved by Jason Grenier in the sixth who surrendered 2 unearned runs, due to two Giant miscues, but in the 7th inning Grenier slammed the door on the Rockies' potent lineup.

Offensively, Jason Grenier drove in two runs, one in the 1st inning with a sacrifice fly, and the other with a 3rd inning single. Glennon drove in the other run with a 2 inning single.

The Yanks string of 15 straight wins (including 2002 playoffs) was broken by the Giants this past Sunday. The story of the game was former Worcester State College standout Jeff Decoteau. Decoteau, who pitched a complete game 2-hitter with 10 K's against the Yanks, broke WSC's school record for wins 3 consecutive years during his tenure, so he is just getting warmed up in the MABL.

Offensively, for the Giants, Joe Albano and Dan Dileo both had RBI hits. For the Yankees, Mike Ganley and Jeff McHugh had the 2 lone hits.
