Mon, 27 August, 8:00PM, at Waltham - Nipper
South Shore Grays 8, Waltham Athletics 5
The Gray's knock the reigning League Champions out of playoff contention with hard fought 8-5 win in Waltham. Matt Ferro threw 6 innings giving up 5 runs although none were earned. The Gray's defense did not do Ferro many favors however, the A's seemed to capitalize on every Gray miscue with clutch hits.
The offense was led by Bret Samboy who continues his torrid offensive pace going 3-4 with 4 RBI, including mammoth 3-Run home run to spark a 6 run 3rd inning. Matt Ferro and Phil Carignan each added 2 hits and 2 RBI.
The Gray's close the season out Thursday against the Dodgers and will be the 3 seed in the playoffs. |

Grays win a 1-0 pitchers duel between Tom Plumitallo and Brett O'Keefe. Plumitallo threw a CG shutout giving up 5 hits, striking out 4. O'Keefe, saddled with the unlucky loss, threw all 7 giving up only 5 hits and 1 unearned run.
The Grays strung together 3 straight hits in the 5th allowing them to score one run on a misplayed ball which would be all Plumitallo and the Gray's defense would need.
The Gray's are back in action Monday under the lights in Weymouth against the Dodgers. |

Fri, 20 July, 8:00PM, at Waltham - Nipper
Waltham Athletics 3, Middleboro Red Sox 2
The A's got a much needed victory over the Red Sox on a beautiful Friday night at Nipper.
The Athletics were led on the mound by Brett O'Keefe, who threw a CG, surrendering 2 ER and striking out 7 in the effort.
The A's would score in the 4th, taking advantage of a Red Sox error, and a SAC fly by Buddha. They'd get another in the 5th when Krall drove in MacNeil through a drawn in infield.
The Red Sox tied it up in the 6th when Bill Ferdinand walked, and the meat of the Red Sox order would drive runs in, with RBI singles by Letourneau and Lannan.
The Athletics would put one more across in the 6th, thanks to a hit by Muollo, an error on a stolen base attempt, and a hit by Warren Asdron.
Rookie Matt MacNeil led the Athletics offense going 2-3 with a double and a run. Ferrazani threw well in the loss, and Lannan made some nice plays in the field, while tallying a key RBI hit for the Red Sox. |

Sun, 15 July, 10:00AM, at Roslindale - Fallon
Boston Sox 10, Waltham Athletics 0
The Boston Sox complete the season series sweep of the defending champ A’s with a 10-0 win at Fallon field. The Sox lineup was hot from the start, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning and never looking back. Every player had at least one hit as the squad accumulated 16 total knocks on the day. Eric Rodriguez paced the way with a 3 for 4 outing while Jake Perkins plated two big runs to break open the game in the first.
Inheriting a 7-0 lead before throwing a pitch was far more than Seth Perkins would need on the hill. Perkins cruised to the win, going the distance for the Sox, allowing only 2 hits, no runs, no walks, and striking out 6.
The Sox end their 4 game in 7 day stretch 3-0-1 extending their league best record to 12-1-1. Sox will return to the diamond on Thursday night against the Singing Surgeons at 8pm in Lynn at Breed Middle School.

The A's rode the arm of Jason Kurtz to the 4-1 victory on Friday night over the Surgeons. Kurtz tallied 11 K's on the night, while surrendering only 1 run.
The A's put up 3 runs in the first, thanks to Nick Barton's 2 RBI double, and great baserunning on a wild pitch to score the third run. The A's pushed across another run in the 4th, when Bo McIntyre hit a single, and PR Paul Mahoney stole second base and scored on an error.
The Surgeons threatened in the 7th; however Kurtz induced a DP ground out, and got a strikeout to end the game.
Manero pitched well in the loss, and also tallied 2 hits for the Surgeons. |

Cambridge Spinners 10, Waltham Athletics 0
The Spinners top the A's in their second meeting of the season. The Spinners offense was led by Gaffney, Allain and Salvia, all of which were 3 for 3 on the night (Allain 2 doubles). Spins would get their first run in the 1st inning off a Gaffney 2 out single and would put up 7 more runs in the 3rd. That would be plenty for CMF - who threw a 2 hit shut out, striking out 8. Spinners finished the night with a total of 10 runs leading a shortened game.
Next up for the Spinners is the rubber match with the Sox on Friday night.

Sat, 30 June, 2:00PM, at Watertown - Moxley
Waltham Athletics 2, South Shore Grays 0
Brett O’Keefe dazzled and threw a complete game no hitter against the Grays on a stifling hot day at Moxley in Watertown. The only runners to reach base via an error and a walk.
The A’s scored 2 in the first thanks to timely hits by Muollo and Tessari, and that was all they would need as O’Keefe kept the Grays bats off balance all game. Jared Walsh was the tough luck loser, as he threw 4 straight 1-2-3 innings to end the ball game, surrendering only the runs in the first inning.
Both the A’s and Grays are now 5-6 on the season and are fighting for playoff spots. The Grays play the Red Sox Sunday, and the A’s are off until July 9 against the Spinners. |
