Another great division battle between the Black Sox and Minutmen that featured great pitching by both Matt Nicholson and Jon Sargent. Nicholson goes the distance to pick up his eight win of the season.

The Black Sox would score a run in the first. Chris Brown lead off with a double and was driven in on a single by Bill Reichmann.

The Minutemen would get their run in the third. With two outs Jake Christman singled. He would score on a long double by Rob Linn.

In the bottom of the sixth. Elliot Shea lead off with a triple to right center. Shea's third hit of the game. Nicholson would end the threat by retiring the next three batters on a shallow fly to center, a strike out and a popup to second.

The Sox get the go ahead run in the seventh. Sam Kennedy-Smith singled up the middle to start the inning. He was then sacrificed to second by Tim Varakis and driven home on a single by Alex Owens.

Black Sox push across two runs in the top of the fifth and make it stand to pick up the win.

Jared Rooney picks up his first win of the season pitching into the sixth without giving up a run. Sam Kennedy-Smith came on in the sixth with runners on second and third to induce a popup, then record the final three outs to pickup his first save.

Offensively for the Sox, Bill Reichmann and Cam Owens each collected two hits.


Matt Bernstein would go the distance for Forest Hills, pitching very well despite picking up the loss. Alberto Vazquez had two hits for Forest Hills.

JT Ross goes the distance earning his fifth win on the season. Offensively for the Sox Chris Brown, Joe Gil, Cam Owens, Aqib Shah and Tim Varakis all had two hits each.

For Al Thomas Brendan Wheeler and Pat McDonough each had three hits, while Mike Niland and Steve Lambert had two hits a piece.

Morse vs. Rooney! Both pitchers at their best tonight. Morse did not allow a base runner until the 5th and Rooney giving up only one run on 4 hits.

Somerville actually scored the run in the 6th on no hits! Addesa led the inning off with a 7 pitch walk, Barrett bunted him over, DesRoches intentionally put on. Both Addesa and DesRoches reach 2nd and 3rd on pass ball and Addesa scores only run on a Scioli sac fly.

Black sox threaten in seventh with a leadoff double but after trying to tag on the next batter the runner was called out for leaving early.

Great game played on both sides and as Grif said playoff baseball game. Black Sox a class organization from the top down.

Somerville plays at home tomorrow night vs. Forest Hills @8pm.

Great divisional game between the Minmen and Black Sox. After the Minmen jump out to 4-0 - the Sox battle back to take the lead.

Minmen down 1 with 2 outs in the 7th get the clutch 2 out 2 strike hit by Jake Christman to tie the game. Linn had 3 more RBI's and after a slow start is gaining ground trying to defend his RBI title.

JT Ross was outstanding going the distance for the Black Sox. Sam Hyun replaced Jordan McCarthy in the 5th and picked up the win going 4 1/3.

Down 4-0, the Sox put 3 on the board in the fifth and one in the sixth to send it to extra innings. With two out in the eigth, Justin Miranda doubled home Cam Owens from first who was running on the 3-2 pitch.

Drew Tambling had a big night for the McKay Club going 5-5 with a double and a home run. Also with multiple hit games were Jack Owens who had 3 hits and John Nee who had 2 hits.

Freddi Carrera's triple in the 7th knocked in the eventual winning run, And Eric MacIver was overpowering in securing his first win of the season. Mac allowed just 3 hits and 2 unearned runs while striking out 7 and walking only 1.

Black Sox's Jason Sememtelli doubled then scored to tie the game with two outs in the 6th. Sox pitcher Matt Nicholson was good, throwing a complete game and not giving up a run til the 5th.

The Knights traveled to Ronan Park to take on the Black Sox in their first of 2 meetings on the season. The Knights sent Branden Eaton to the mound to face off against Sam Kennedy-Smith.

The Knights struck first scoring 3 runs in the top of the 2nd to take a 3-0 lead. The Sox countered with 4 runs of their own to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 4th.

The Knights came right back scoring a run to tie it in the top of the 4th before Matt Rodriguez crushed a 2-0 fastball in the top of the 5th for his first Homerun in a Knights uniform to take a 5-4 lead that would not be given back.

Eaton settled in nicely after a shaky 4th inning that seen him give up 4 runs. He pitched six innings striking out 8 while earning his YBL leading 5th win.

Matt Rodriguez was 4 for 5 with a HR and Wilson Mercado continued to stay red hot going 4 for 4 with a walk and is now batting .484 on the season. The Knights win their 8th straight.

Dodgers get back on the win train with a 5-2 victory vs. the Black Sox. Dodgers came out strong with 5 straight hits to lead off the game and 4 runs in the 1st inning. Nick Tapper delivers another run scoring double, leading the league with 6 doubles in 9 games. Jay Shatto delivers a 2-4 performance, scoring 2 runs.

Jon Merritt pitched 5 strong innings before being relieved by "Moose" Bredeinstine in the 6th. The Black Sox showed resilience as they loaded the bases and scored a run before Moose gets the Dodgers out of the inning and eventually picks up the save.

For the Black Sox, Sam Kennedy Smith came in to shut down the Dodgers for the last 5 innings, allowing few hits and no runs.

Solid pitching for the Malden Bulldogs as Mike Cook improves to 3-0 on the season. Kenny Olisky gets his 1st action on the bump in relief after dealing with shoulder issues in 2011 which limited him on the mound. Luis Lara continues with the hot bat going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's.

Solid pitching once again by YBL veteran JT Ross of the Brighton Black Sox. A couple of key hits here and there by Malden were the only thing that kept the crafty lefty from the win. Hits were hard to come by against him tonight. Tim Varkis 2-3 on the night as well as Colin Riggs 2-3.

Sabers bats come alive to edge the Black Sox 4-3

The MassBay duo hook up as Jon Chapman did the catching for Rob MacDonald who started on the mound for Stoneham. MacDonald pitched four strong innings only letting up 1 run with 4 strikeouts.

Greg Dubela came in to relieve MacDonald and picked up his first win of the season. Dubela let up 1 run on 3 hits, striking out 3 Black Sox batters.

Offensively Nick Schauwecker hit a triple to left center to set up the tying run.

In the fifth Jon Susko had a RBI single to left to put the Sabers ahead and Angelo Colucci's 2RBI double to left center went on to be the game winning hit for Stoneham.

Robinson continued his success at the plate with
3 hits, a RBI and scored a run. Flanagan and Susko had a multi-hit game.

Varakis had a great day at the plate with 3 hits for the Black Sox. Forman and Shah also had a multi-hit game.

Aqib Shah gets hit to lead off the bottom of the seventh. Shah advances to second on a sacrifice bunt by Sam Kennedy-Smith. Cam Owens singles to right putting runners on the corners. Collin Geagon strikes out for the first out of the inning. Shah scores on a wild pitch during the at bat to Chris Brown.

JT Ross goes the distance to pick up his first win of the season. Ross had seven assists in the game.

Max Martins went the distance for the Braves taking the tough loss, despite throwing a great game. Martins would only allow three hits, walking none, while striking out eleven.

The Braves even up their record with some solid defense and timely hitting in a 4-3 victory over the Black Sox at Rogers. Braves 3rd baseman Jeff Cashman made an impressive bare hand stab on a slow roller to steal an infield hit away from Gil in the 5th. He also made a leaping grab on a hard liner off the bat of Shah in the 6th, preventing a likely double down the line. With the tying run on 3rd in the 7th, Greeley and Schools were able to turn the 1-6-3 double play to end the game. Cashman and Uberti were both 2-4 at the dish for the Braves

Sam Kennedy-Smith pitched well for the Sox but didn't factor into the decision. Brown, Gil and Sementelli had the hits for the Black Sox.
