Josh Vernon picked up his first MABL win and Vinay Chakravarthy his first MABL save as the 'Stros four-hit the Cubs. Mike Vernon was 2 for 4 with a triple and four RBI. Nate Kenyon, Jeff Coco, and Cory Edgar each had a pair of hits.

The Astros Sean Kennedy held the Yankees at bay though 5 innings with just 1 ER. The Yanks then exploded for 8 runs in the final 2 innings highlighted by Jeff McHugh's bases loaded triple in the 7th. AJ Bucciarelli and Todd Steffanides had multi-hit games while Paul Szumita pitched in with an RBI double.

Bryan Gauvin picked up the win in relief tossing a scoreless 4th and 5th. Ken Kilduff shut the door in the 6th and 7th to earn the save.

Note: McHugh continued his offense run with another 4 RBI day to give him 21 RBIs in his last 5 games.

Drew Blicharz squared off against Mike Vernon in a great pitching matchup. Blicharz gave up 4 runs on 4 hits with 7 Ks. Vernon gave up 5 runs on 4 hits with 8 Ks.
The Reds offense scored 3 runs in the third inning on singles by Rob Chase and Chris Chase. Mike Kalfopolous roped a single to bring both chases around. He eventually scored later that inning.

Craig Genualdo earned his second win of the season throwing the complete game while allowing just six hits and two earned runs. The reds scored six runs in the third inning on four Astros' errors.

Tyler Walsh was the hero at the plate for the 'Stros. In the bottom of the sixth inning, he belted a three-run homer to tie the game at seven. The 'Stros went down 9-7 in the top of the seventh, but it was Walsh who came through again in the bottom half. With the 'Stros down one with bases loaded, two outs, and a full count, Walsh belted a hard grounder to short that the Reds' shortstop couldn't handle, and Owen Devine reached home for the winning run.

Walsh finished 2 for 4 with four RBI, plus the game-winning non-RBI. Genualdo went 2 for 3 in his winning cause. Tim Clark also added two hits. For the Reds, Mike Kalfopolous was 2 for 3 and Chris Chase had a homer.

Genualdo picked up complete game win (6H, 2ER, 3K); Walsh (2-4, 4 RBI) hit 3-run homer and drove in Devine for the winning run.

Kevin Spitz exploded, hitting 2 HR, and recording 7 RBI in the game; not to mention going 4-4 at the plate. Greg O'Keeffe went the distance allowing just 2 hits and no earned runs. Leland Boutilier, in his return to the #1 spot in the lineup, finished 2-3 with 2 singles and scored twice. Keith Philson continued to smash the ball as he goes another 2-3 with a 2b to the wall. Artie Carey also had 2 hits on the day as he ended a perfect 2-2.

Sean Kennedy started the game for the Astros, but had to be relieved after 2 innings due to back problems. DiPerno came in to finish the rest of the game.

Gary Moran's 2 RBI single and Dave Mitrou's 2 RBI triple pushed the rockies passed the Astros in a tightly faught battle that came down to the wire. Mike McCarthy pitched a complete game to earn the victory, recording 8 SO in the process.

For the Astros, Belli and Clark each collected 2 hits and an RBI an piece.

The Astros put a pounding on the Mets at The Jeff. Mike Vernon shut down the Mets through four innings, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out nine for the first win of his MABL career. Gary DiPerna went three strong for the save.

Terry Belli led the 'Stros offense going 2 for 2 with 3 RBI, 2B, BB, HP, and SB. Vinay Chakravarthy was 3 for 4 with a 2B, 2R, and an RBI. Cory Edgar was 2 for 4 with a 2B and an RBI. Craig Genualdo continued his strong output with 2 RBI and Timmy Clark hit a two-run homer and finished with 3 RBI on the night.

For the Mets, Kit Kadlec was 2 for 3 with 2R. Al Becker and Greg Cote had RBI singles in the 7th.

Mike Vernon strikes out 9 in 4 IP. Terry Belli and Vinay Chakravarthy provided the offensive spark.

Tim Fortune (4-2, 1.20) returned from his honeymoon to pick up his 4th win by tossing 5 strong innings in a 4-1 Mets win. Fortune scattered 5 singles and 1 unearned run and struck out 6. He extended his streak without having issued a walk to 28 innings. The Mets put up a 3-spot in the 3rd on RBI hits by Al Becker and Kit Kadlec. In the 5th, Kadlec led off with his second double and was driven home by Chris Sansone for a 4-1 lead. Kadlec (2-for-4, 2 runs scored) closed it out for the Mets by pitching a scoreless 6th and 7th, striking out 3. Greg Cote followed up Friday's cycle with a single and double in a 2-for-3 performance. Josh Walker was 2-for-3 and picked up his 10th stolen base. For the Astros, Tony Ricupero was 2-for-4 and Matt Cronin was 2-for-3.

Fortune picks up where he left off; Becker drives in the tying run; Kadlec gets the game-winner and the save.

The Diamondbacks kept rolling with their 8-3 win over the Astros. It was the D'backs 6 consecutive win and put them over .500 for the first time this year. The D'backs again relied on the arm of Jeff Cain who recorded his 4th complete game victory of the season. Cain pitched only two days after pitching the final two innings of the team's victory over the Yankees on Thursday night. He gave up two earned runs and struck out 7. Jeremy Broadwell also had another big game for the D'backs going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, including his league leading 7th triple. Tommy Bligh, Cain, Bill Schellbach, and Rich Antash also made strong offensive contributions to the D'backs win.

Not to be denied in this wild affair at Healy, the Astros erased an early 4-0 deficit early on, blew a 9-5 lead in the fifth, and battled back from Marlin leads of 11-9 and 12-11 in the fifth and sixth to ultimately triumph 15-12 (and give replacement manager Tyler Walsh a mild coronary in the process).

Craig Genualdo earned the win in relief for the 'Stros with three solid innings to finish the game. The general also tossed in a 2-for-3 performance at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored. He was one of six Astros with multiple hits in the game, including Tim Clark, the offensive star of the game (2-for-4, 3RBI, 2R), Matt Cronin (2-4, 2RBI , R), Nate Kenyon (2-3, 2RBI, 2R), and Tony Ricupero (2-3, 2R).

Chris Ryan paced the Marlins offense going 3-for-5 with 3RBI and 2R. Karl Cyr also had three hits while plating one and scoring twice.
