Boston Havoc 2, Waltham Athletics 1
The Havoc returned to .500 baseball with a tight 2-1 win over the Waltham Athletics.
Mitch Philibert (2-0) pitched a complete game, allowing 7 scattered hits with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. The lone run scoring off Philibert was unearned in the 6th inning. With the bases loaded, a comebacker to the pitcher resulted in the first out at the plate, but the ball was thrown into the outfield by the catcher resulting in a run.
Taylor Landry (0-1) pitched well for the Athletics, allowing just 4 hits in 6 innings of work while notching 7 strikeouts, but took the loss after being punished by 2 unearned runs.
Jordan Siu did all the scoring for the Havoc, initially after belting a triple and scoring on error. And later after reaching on error and scoring on an Alex Strempel single.
It was a well pitched game by both sides, finishing in just 2 hours, and with the low score, was a nail-biter until the end. |
