The Dodgers rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the top of the seventh to force extra innings, and they scraped across one more in the eighth before hanging on for the victory to open the postseason. Mike Cole went all eight innings on the mound, picking up the well-earned victory. Triples by Rudy Hersh and Mike Cahill, along with an RBI single by Trevor Barsamian did the damage in the seventh, while a leadoff two-strike single by Alex Ahmed got things rolling in the eight. The Dodgers and Giants get back at it on Saturday morning in Newton for Game 2.
