Strong defense and pitching were the names of the game Sunday in Middleboro, as the A's defeat the Red Sox 3-2 in a well played game by both squads. The A's jumped out with 3 runs in the first inning on RBI's by Tapper, Cardwell, and McIntyre. Radcliffe settled down after the first, throwing well and surrendering no runs the rest of the game. Kurtz was on for the A's, giving up only 1 run through 5 innings. The Red Sox would cut the lead to 3-2 in the 6th on back-to-back doubles by Radcliffe and Letourneu. They threatened in the 7th, but the A's shut the door, assisted by some great outfield defense in left field by Brian Colella. A's lead series 1-0. Game two of the semifinal series this Wednesday at 8pm at Chelsea High.
