The Royals took a quick 5-0 led in the top of the 1st due to some wild pitching and a 2RBI single by Drew Kowalevicz (2 for 3). After the 1st, DBacks pitcher Chris Buckley settled down and allowed only 1R on 3 hits the rest of the way in a complete game performance. However, those 5 runs proved to be enough as Ariel Martinez held the DBacks to 4 runs on the day with a strong complete game effort of his own to pick up his 4th win of the year. Andrew Marenghi (1 for 2, BB, 2RBI, R) added an insurance run in the 5th, and Greg Kosc (1 for 3, SB) scored 2 runs on the day for the Royals. Felix Villalobos once again spearheaded some great Royals defense with 7 assists on the day at SS. For the DBacks, Brian Kilpatrick led the offense by going 3 for 3 with 3SB, a triple, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Jeremey Broadwell (1 for 4, R, SB) had a big day at 3B with two great catches on line drives in the 1st and 2nd.
