Mon, 14 July, 7:30PM, at Charlestown - Ryan
Marlins 3, Mariners 1
The Marlins and Mariners matched excellent pitching and errorless defense under the "lights" at Ryan Field Monday night.
In the end, it was the Fish coming out a 3-1 winner by virtue of a couple of loud splashes on offense.
The first came in the top of the second inning, when Davin Wilfrid connected for his first MABL homer, a shot to left. Wilfrid later singled to lead off the 5th, and was followed by a two out RBI triple by John Sailhamer and an RBI single by Pat Allen to increase the lead to 3-0.
Neil Doherty turned in another fine performance on the hill, earning the win with 5 1/3 innings of shutout ball, walking none. Joe Montoya came on in the 6th to shut down a Mariner rally and earn the save after working the 7th.
Brendan Power had a multihit game and scored the Mariners' only run, and teammate Scott Baker threw a great 6 innings on the mound.
