Mariners 18, Dbacks 5
Sunday May 18 marked the first ever meeting between the Mariners and the Diamondbacks, the latter having joined the league as a new team in 2008. The Dbacks jumped out to an early 3-1 lead sparked by a 2-run double by Brad Sherwood. But the M's responded with consecutive 8-run innings, jumping out to an 18-5 lead heading into the 5th. With the completion of the top of the 5th, the game was called due to rain.
For the M's, Corey Aldoupolis (3-4), Matt O'Laughlin (2-2), and Dave Salafia (2-3) drove in 9 of the 18 runs. Jay LaPointe (2-3) also had a multi-hit game. For the Dbacks, Steve VanReenen (1-2) and Brad Sherwood (1-2) each drove in 2 runs. |
