Dan Shanahan held a potent Dodger lineup to two runs in a complete game performance. The Giants scored one in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Steve Coyle. They picked up three in the second on an RBI double by Joe Albano off the left field fence and heads up baserunning by Steve Corda, who scored from first base on a single by Jeff Decoteau. The dodgers got on the board after a mammoth shot off the bat of Fabian Alicea landed him at third base. He then scored on an infield single.

Shanahan and Albano carried the Giants. Gonzalez hits a triple well over 400 feet.
