Fabian Alicea outdueled Andrew Marenghi before a partisan Royal crowd at Fallon. Alicea was brilliant on the hill as he picked up the complete game shutout. He also knocked in the game's only run with a bases-loaded single in the first, scoring Josue Feliciano. Marenghi settled down after the first and shut down the Dodgers the rest of the night. The game ended on an unorthodox double play. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Alicea fielded a comebacker and threw to Feliciano at short for the first out. Feliciano's throw to first was just late, but Kevin Beliveau fired across the diamond to third baseman Jason Hanson. Hanson applied the tag to the runner who had taken a wide turn around third with thoughts of scoring on the play. Both teams played stellar defense throughout the game. The game was played at a high-level and was clearly a championship caliber contest.
