Orioles 4, Hurricanes 3
Adam Clark of the Orioles and Chris Thompson of the Hurricanes matched up in an outstanding pitchers duel with a dramatic finish.
Heading into the 7th, Clark carried a 1-0 lead, but the Hurricanes started the inning with a single and a double. After an intentional walk to load the bases, Bryan Healey came in to try to work out of the jam.
Dave Bressler greeted him with a long double that plated two, with a third runner being thrown out at the plate. The next batter, Thompson, hit yet another double to bring the score to 3-1 in favor of the Hurricanes.
In the bottom of the 7th, the Orioles chipped away at that lead very quickly. Jay Thomas led off with a double to left, and Kevin Bell followed with a triple. Eric Fudeman then tied the game with a single to right. After Ronnie Maddrey stroked the O's fourth consecutive hit, Will Wilde hit a chopper to 3rd; when the throw to 1st was errant, Fudeman scored the winning run. |
