Steve Roberts (2-0, 1.24) went all the way, scattering 8 hits and 3 walks and striking out 3, as the Mets completed a doubleheader sweep of the Giants, 11-2. The Mets' offense finally broke out of its slump with 15 hits. Every hitter in the lineup had at least 1 hit. Josh Walker was 3-for-4 with a double, 2 runs scored and 2 steals. Al Becker had 2 hits, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Greg Cote had 2 doubles and a sac fly. Tim Fortune had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Kit Kadlec had 2 hits and scored 3 runs. For the Giants, Dan Shanahan was victimized by a shaky defense as the Mets scored 6 runs in the 6th to pull away. Mike Byrne was 2-for-3 with a double, and Joe Cavaleri picked up 2 hits for a total of 4 on the day. |
