Mets 7, Dodgers 0
Tim Fortune (7-2, 1.31) pitched a four-hitter as the Mets beat the Dodgers, 7-0, in the Baystate Conference wild-card playoff game. The Mets advance to the conference semifinals to face the top-seeded Rockies.
Fortune walked 3 and struck out 4. The Mets played errorless ball behind him, including an outstanding sliding catch in deep right-center by Al Becker to rob Jose Medina of an extra-base hit.
Josh Walker was the catalyst for the Mets, picking up 3 of the team's 7 hits out of the leadoff spot. Kit Kadlec walked twice and scored each time. Seth Grossman had his 6th straight multi-hit game (14-for-his-last-23) with a 2-for-3 night and an RBI.
For the Dodgers, Garrett Fisher pitched well in defeat, allowing just 2 earned runs and 7 hits with 7 Ks in 6 innings. Dave Zalzal stroked 2 hits for the boys from T's Pub. |
