For the 2nd straight game, the Yanks won in their final AB.

The Yanks knocked out 6 hits in the top of the 1st to grab a 5-0 lead. But that lead would not last for long as the Marlins chipped away with single runs in the 1st and 5th and 2 runs in the 3rd. With the Marlins down 5-4, Chris Ryan delivered the game tying run in the bottom of the 6th to even the score at 5-5.

In the 7th, the Yanks regained the lead thanks to a Mike Moloney (2-4, RBI) bases loaded single. The Yanks would score another 3 runs for the eventual final score of 9-5.

Tim Troville pitched 2 innings in relief of Ken Kilduff to pick up the win. Neil Doherty took the loss for the Marlins pitching well after the tough 1st inning.

For the Yanks, Ned Coffee (2-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI) and Jeff McHugh (3-4, RBI) both had multihit games. For the Marlins, Adam Etheringon, Kevin Brennan and Herr also has 2 hits a piece.

n the 1st game of the playoffs, the Yanks jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the 1st after a few walks and a Mike Moloney (2-3, 2B, RBI) RBI single. The scored remained 2-0 as Bryan Gauvin took a no hitter into the 5th. But with two outs and after a few walks, Andy Adam Etherington and Andy Katz came up with huge 2-out RBI singles to tie the score 2-2.

In the bottom of the 7th, the Yanks loaded the bases with no outs with a walk and a few hits. Marlins starter Kevin Brennan almost pitched out of the jam striking out the next two batters. But with two outs, AJ Bucciarelli was hit with a pitch to bring in the winning run.

Gauvin earned the complete game win allowing 2 ER on 3 hits while striking out 10. Brennan pitched well but took the loss.

The Marlins defeated the Cubs 4-0 at Billings Field Tuesday night in the Atlantic Conference Wild Card game, earning a spot in the conference semi finals vs. the Yankees.

Neil Doherty tossed a complete game shutout for the Fish, allowing only 5 hits and walking none while striking out 3. Aside from a runner thrown out at the plate in the 3rd inning, the Cubs only had two runners advance as far as 2nd base.

After scoring a single run in the 3rd on three infield errors, the Marlins plated 3 in the 5th to give Doherty a cushion. Andy Katz doubled, then scored on a Davin Wilfrid single. After Chris Ryan singled, Kevin Brennan's infield groundout scored Wilfrid. Paul Bracco then singled to score Ryan.

Sam Price had two hits for the Cubs in support of Shane Steffens, who pitched well in the complete game loss.

The Indians held off the Marlins in a fairly uneventful and well played contest at Billings.

In a battle of power vs finesse, Neil Doherty and Bryan Gauvin locked up in a pitcher’s dual at Bedford high school. With the win, the Yanks clinch the #1 seed in the Atlantic.

The Yanks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd on a Gary Moran (2-3, RBI) 2-out RBI single. Doherty and the Marlins defense kept the Yanks offense at bay until the 7th when Moran led off the inning with his 2nd hit of the game. Moran later scored on an error to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish.

In his last start of the regular season, Gauvin struck out 9 while allowing just 3 hits. The Yanks defense was perfect with several nice plays made in the infield. Gauvin finishes the season a perfect 8-0 with a 0.86 ERA. Doherty took the tough loss for the Marlins allowing no earned runs and pitched out of several jams.

Despite the sweltering heat at Bedford HS, Kevin Brennan went a strong 7 innings, tossing a complete game three hitter for the Marlins victory over the Grays.

The Marlins offense had several contributors, led by Chris Ryan (3-3, 3R, 2RBI), Andy Herr (2-4, 4RBI), and Karl Cyr (1-3, 2R, 2RBI). Eight of the 10 Marlin starters scored at least once in the ball game.

John Cronin had two of the Grays three hits on the afternoon.

Brennan goes the distance for his 4th win.

Anthony Leonelli, the Marlins first round draft pick in 2004, tossed the first complete game shutout in Marlins history as the Fish edged a tough Astros team 3-0 at Clifford Field.

Leonelli (CG, 5H, 0BB, 9K) was matched pitch for pitch by Sean Kennedy of the Astros (5IP, 4H, 8K) through 5 innings before the Astros went to the bullpen in the bottom of the 6th. Reliever Ron Viola walked Andy Herr (0-1, R, HBP, BB) and Matt King (2-2, R, BB) to open the frame before they were advanced by a sacrifice bunt by Karl Cyr. Joe Montoya (1-3, R, 3B, 2RBI) then provided the big blow of the inning, lining a deep triple to left scoring Herr and King. Montoya then scored on a single by Jason Leone.

Viola had two hits for the Astros including a double, and Tyler Walsh had a single and stolen base.

Chris Allen picked up his first career complete game shutout over the Marlins. He was helped by strong defense, including a Sean Magee diving grab at short.
Matt Bloomer led the offense with three hits. Tony Ramos and Chris Chase also had two hits a piece.
Niel Doherty pitched well in defeat, going the distance.

In a memorable pitching duel at Bedford High School, Neil Doherty (11IP,5K,2BB) topped Kit Kadlec (10.1IP,8K) 3-2 in 11 innings. The Bluefish took the lead 2-1 in the top of the 11th. The Marlins responded with 2 runs in the bottom half, capped by a Kevin Brennan single up the middle that scored Karl Cyr and Chris Ryan.

the Tribe beat the Marlins 5-0 behind the arm of Daryl Pina.

Pina's first shutout of the year was a consistent effort marked by a surgical approach to the opposition. He allowed just five hits and struck out three during the complete game effort.

At the plate, Nick Bondola went 2-4 with a run and an RBI. Brian Greene had two walks and a run scored.

Neil Doherty tied his own team record with his 5th win, a complete game three hitter, as the Marlins rolled 16-2 at Billings.

Doherty was solid throughout, carrying a no-hitter into the 5th inning, at which time Matt King opened his big mouth. Despite intermittent rain and lousy field conditions, Neil allowed only 2 unearned runs.

Three Marlins had multihit games, including Andy Katz (2-4, 2R, RBI), Davin Wilfrid (2-5, 2B, 2RBI) and Andy Herr (2-3, 2BB, 2RBI).

Jay Thomas, Al Cacciatore and Brendan Fenton had hits for the O's.

Neil wins 5th for 2nd year in a row.
