In an epic championship showdown game that may have signaled the passing of the torch of MSBL pitching dominance from experience to youth, Medford Mets' ace Steve Hueston mixed a devastating sharp curve, 90 mph fastball, and ultra-sharp command of the strike zone to stymie a talent-laden, disciplined Somerville Senators lineup for nine innings. Senators starter Dan Murray gave up 2 more runs than in last Sunday's Game One 6-4 Senators victory, before departing the game with the bases loaded, handing the ball to MSBL Hall of Famer Steve Donovan. Pitching on two days rest, Donovan promptly extinguished the threat and held the Mets scoreless the rest of the way with his trademark precision pitching. By the game's -- and season's end -- however, the one-two punch of the Mets young right-handers, Eli Munkholm (Game 2 winner) and Hueston, outdueled the (please see Message Board for full summary) |

For the Knights, Darren Flutie went 3 for 5 with a clutch single scoring 2 RBSs in the 7th inning with bases loaded and 2 outs. Steve Ryan had a double in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs. Scituate almost pulled it out in the 9th with hits from O'Brien and Cassidy. The game ended on a double-play by the Knights. |
