In a thrilling come from behind win, the Spinners took game two of the finals with a 3-2 victory, tying the series at one game apiece. Down 2-0 in the seventh, Cambridge took advantage of Spartan errors and won it on a two run single from Joe Perna.
Colin Sullivan earned the win in relief, pitching 1 1/3 innings after coming to the mound from third base in the sixth.
Ted Tracy walked and scored on a JP Songin single in the third to give South Shore an early lead. Mike Smith walked and later scored on a Spinners error.
Game three is Thursday in Norwood. |

Backed by a strong outing from starting pitcher Dan Blum and an explosive first inning, the Cambridge Spinners knocked off the Boston Bombers 5-2 to win their semifinals series two games to one.
Dave Richards reached on an error and later scored on a fielder's choice. Alex Benson's two-run home run later in the inning gave Cambridge a 3-0 lead. Mike Tufo scored on an error in the third and Sean Merrigan scored on a Benson single.
Blum pitched six shutout innings, giving up four hits while striking out six.
Marc Desroches and Jake Yigjian reached base on walks in the seventh and scored the lone Boston runs on RBIs from Kevin Ohara and Mike Mori. |

The Spinners forced a third and deciding game with an 8-0 win over the Bombers in game two of the semifinal series. Cambridge came out swinging with seven runs in the first inning.
Sean Merrigan led the offense with three hits and two runs scored.
Luc Kocher pitched six innings, giving up six hits while striking out four. Colin Sullivan pitched a scoreless seventh, keeping the Boston offense off the board.
Mike Maguire led the Bombers offense with two hits. |

Backed by a strong first inning and four innings of relief pitching from Matt Lessard, the Cambridge Spinners beat the Bay State Pirates 5-1 and sweep the quarterfinal series two games to none. Lessard took over for starter Dan Blum, giving up one hits while striking out five.
Sean Merrigan drove in a run in the top of the first with a RBI single and Alex Benson singled and drove in two runs later that inning. Benson also doubled and scored in the fourth. Derek Richards doubled and scored in the fifth.
Ian Sales pitched a complete game for the Pirates with nine strikeouts. |
